Apple Text Replacement Is Worse Than Auto-Correction
You’re not safe by just turning iPhone’s auto-correction off
I love my iPhone. My Siri talks to me with his male British voice. Apple keeps making my iPhone smarter by software updates and new models. I’m currently using the 12 Pro.
The only thing Apple dropped the ball on is auto-correct. I’ve heard horror stories about it, so I never enabled it. Pretty smart, huh?
Yeah, hold on to that pipe dream.
For some reason when I type certain words, my fingers are a key too far over and I type the same wrong word every time. My number one misspelled word is “this”. I type it as “rhis”. Every damn time. My iPhone won’t even suggest “this” so I could tap on it. Nope. I had to backspace every time I typed “rhis”.
The second word I misspelled often was the word “fuck”. I kept typing “duck”, and the word “fuck” wasn’t an option to tap on.
I was playing around with phone settings a few months ago and found something called “Text Replacement”. Tapping on the arrow opened a screen where if I typed something like “this”, the iPhone would automatically change it to “this”. Sheer genius, right?
