I Dreamed My Husband Cheated On Me
Chantix gave me my most vivid dream ever.
I tried to stop smoking fifteen years ago. I tried acupuncture and hypnosis. Nicotine gum, lozenges, and patches didn’t take away cravings. My skin had huge welts from nicotine patches. It looked like I had a severe skin disease when I stopped using them. Someone said, “Try cold turkey. That worked for me!” Well, whoopdee dooo. All it did was turn me into a miserable bitch. Even I didn’t like me.
I heard about a pill called Chantix that, according to TV commercials, helped people stop smoking painlessly. Sure, the commercials mentioned some of the common side effects, such as “nausea, sleep problems (trouble sleeping or vivid, unusual, or strange dreams), constipation, gas, and/or vomiting.” I waited months to get a prescription for it. It was a hike from my office to the ladies’ bathroom, and I didn’t think I wanted to quit smoking that bad.
When I started taking Chantix, I took it for two weeks with no side effects. I thought it was great that I could still smoke while taking it — please don’t judge me. One night, a switch clicked on in my brain. I was introduced to vivid dreams. I had no idea what the term “vivid dreams” meant. Were they porno dreams gone wild? Maybe my dreams would be in bright neon colors. HAHAHAHAHAHA! Boy, did I get that one wrong.
