Is Pre-Marriage Counseling a Good Idea?

I wouldn’t do it, because I love surprises.

I want to congratulate Tim Denning and his wife on their marriage. I can read his articles until the cows come home because he’s so damn entertaining.

He mentioned something in his wedding article that I can’t stop thinking about.

“It’s okay not to be okay. It’s okay to have parts of your relationship you need to work on. It’s okay if you’re not starting married life out as perfect.”

“Assume failure and get help in advance.”

My first marriage happened when I was 19 years old. I had no life experiences except for working part time for retail stores, car hopping (yes, that was a job) also known as a car waitress, and finally, a career in bookkeeping. Looking back, I thought my first husband was a jerk when we met. He pulled on my hair as I waited for my food order for a starving customer. Then he asked if my hair was real. What the hell did he think it was since he couldn’t pull it off my head.

Ladies, follow your instincts!

If he didn’t have a nice car, I probably would nave never dated him. He was 22…
