Dad was a very wise man. He never hesitated to pass along his advice and words of wisdom to his kids. The son of a Hungarian mother and Croatian father, Dad used to always say to me, “Diane. You come from a long line of survivors. We never won any wars, but we survived them all.” I knew he was a genius and clever, but it wasn’t until recently that I realized exactly what he meant and how to use it to keep my sanity.

We all know people who argue for the sake of arguing. You say the sky is blue, and they’re the first ones to tell you it’s green. They do everything in their power to win an argument. Sometimes they’ll try to goad you into a debate. Learn a lesson from my Dad and don’t fall for it!

I discovered an inner peace I never thought was possible when I chose not to argue and debate political issues with people who have already made up their minds that I was wrong and they are always right.

It took some practice to perfect my technique that I want to share with you:
