Why I Have to Write on Medium
The neighborhood is a peaceful place since I found Medium.

If you’re reading this, you’re probably a Medium member/writer. I’m making an educated guess that you’re a damn good writer, and you love it. I’m secretly jealous…well, it’s not a secret anymore…of the exciting lives and experiences you’re having. Don’t get me wrong — I’m thrilled for you. Your articles let me see things through your eyes that I might have not ever seen without Medium. And, for that, I say thank you.
My life experiences range from average to meh. I have no desire to climb Mt. Everest, bungy jump, or parachute out of a plane. I don’t even want to run in the Boston Marathon or travel to Europe. The riskiest thing I ever did was when I rode the Steel Phantom at Kennywood Park. My high school diploma used to hang on the wall in my office. It’s been replaced by a Certificate of Completion by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the National Veteran Caregiving Training Program.
I have that certificate because I want to be a better caregiver for my husband. I learned many things to keep him safe. Now I know ways to diffuse situations when he can’t process his emotions. But no matter how much I learn, it’s a struggle to save my sanity. It’s not always easy to walk the walk and talk the talk.
