It’s every golf course employee’s dream to work at Bushwood Country Club. You know…the one in the Caddyshack movie. It’s almost like the writers discovered the characters at the golf courses I worked for!

  1. Danny Noonan — caddy wanting to earn enough money to go to college. We had Ryan — cart attendant who worked to make enough money to go to Embry Riddle.
  2. Carl Spackler — everyone’s favorite groundskeeper. I worked with two Carls, whose names will remain unmentioned. They know who they are. Instead of gophers, they got to play with alligators and snakes.
  3. Al Czervik — new member who pissed off older members, but the staff loved him. We had many Als. I hope they’re bringing joy to the new courses they play.

We golfing employees lived for the nine-hole Monday Ale House tournaments. They started at 6 pm sharp. Everyone from employees, members, and public players golfed for points — 1 point for par, 2 points for birdie, 3 points (maybe 4…I can’t remember) for an eagle. Highest team points won cash and gift certificates. So, even if you had a shitty round, hopefully your three team members could carry you and win.
